Price On Pollution

DESCRIPTION

Australians have long been concerned with climate change. It was a key issue at the 2007 federal election and the topic of regular large grassroots protests. While attempts to pass climate legislation failed in 2010, the new make up of Parliament again brought climate change to the top of the agenda – and made a price on pollution possible, finally!

Make Believe has worked closely with many of Australia’s largest environment and social change organisations to push for strong climate action in 2011. Starting in 2010, we helped convene and facilitate dialogue between leading organisations to develop a coordinated, pro-active campaign in support of a price on pollution. This involved defining objectives, bridging differences, developing and testing communications collateral and planning on-the-ground activities.

(Written by Make Believe, largely filmed and edited by Cameron Suttie).

This work carried forward into 2011, where Make Believe has provided overarching support to the Say Yes campaign (the creative concepts and TV advertising were developed by the great crew at Republic of Everyone) – with activities ranging from social media strategy to newspaper ads, direct mail pieces, outdoor advertising, email copywriting and film work. This collaborative work complements our ongoing climate work directly with groups such as GetUp, WWF and 350.org Australia.
